Typo-Squatting (Analyse or Detect)

Typo-squatting is a type of online scam where attackers create fake websites with names that are very similar to real, trusted websites, often by using common typing mistakes. For example, if the real website is "example.com", they might create "exmaple.com" or "examplle.com". When people accidentally visit these fake sites, they might be tricked into sharing personal information, downloading harmful software, or even making payments.

Analyse Typo-Squatting

The safest and most effective way to analyse and share information about a typo-squatting incident is by using Lookyloo.

After analysis is complete, you can submit the website to MISP for sharing.

  1. On the Lookyloo page, select Actions.
  2. Click Prepare to Push to MISP.
  3. Click Push to MISP.

Detect Typo-Squatting

This process will evaluate your website for potential typo-squatting by generating likely variations of the domain name.

If a potential typo-squatting site is detected, an event will be reported to MISP.
